TRYOUT FORMAT:
Players will complete a 1-day tryout with their age group.  Players may be asked to come in for a second evaluation.  All 15U-18U Teams will be announced at the end of tryouts. 10U-14U players will be notified of local or travel placement at the end of the tryout and will be re-evaluated in the fall to formalize teams.  Players not selected for a club team will be recommended for our EDGE Club Prep Academy which will develop their skills for possible placement in the future.

Sporting Edge Volleyball requires that everyone try out in their predetermined age groups with the exception of players who are in a lower age bracket but attend school at a grade higher (ex. 13U but attends the 8th grade).  Please see the USA Volleyball Age Divisions chart to determine which tryout to attend.  

COST:
The tryout fee is paid through our online registration and covers court time, evaluations, and a tryout shirt. The tryout fee is $60 if registered before June 1. $65 if paid June 1 to the day prior to the tryout.  Same day and walk-ups(cash only) are $70. There are no refunds once registered.  

Check in will begin 30 minutes prior to start time. 

WHAT TO BRING:

• Non-refundable deposit processed upon the offer and acceptance of a position with the club. Forms of deposit payments are cash, check, and card(all credit/debit card payments will have a 3.5% fee added).

       10U-12U Mini Local - $500
       11U-18U Local - $600
       11U-18U Regional and National Travel - $700

• If you have never played at SEV, a copy of your player’s birth certificate is required. 
• Water bottle

* Parents will be allowed to help their player check in but will not be allowed to remain in the gym or the hallways during tryouts. Parents are able to watch via Sporfie. A QR code will be available at the check-in table to access the live feed.

MAKE UP TRYOUTS:
It is strongly recommended to attend the regular tryouts but if you cannot, you will need to attend a make-up tryout.  Team needs and other late tryout dates will be posted after initial tryouts.  

WHAT TO EXPECT AT TRYOUTS:
*Please arrive in plenty of time to get checked in and be geared up and ready to step on the court when the tryout begins. 
* Players should wear comfortable shirt, court/running shorts or leggings, knee pads, volleyball/athletic shoes.  Bring plenty of water. 
* Players will be evaluated using individual skill drills and competitive play.  Attitude and coachability will be factored in as well.  
*Coaches will deliberate after each tryout and make team selections. 
*All 10U-14U players will be notified at the end of tryouts if they were selected to play for SEV at the EDGE Prep, Local or Travel level and re-evaluated in the fall for team placement.  
*All Travel Teams and 15U-17U Local Teams will be notified at the end of tryouts.  
*A 48-hour waiting period will be enforced for discussions about team placement.

WHAT WE WILL NEED ONCE YOU ARE SELECTED TO THE CLUB OR A TEAM:

Deposits are part of the overall dues for the season. By paying your deposit and signing the Commitment Form you are securing your players spot in our club. If you walk away without paying your deposit, your offer is voided and the team spot will be opened for another eligible player.  We cannot hold spots. By accepting your spot on one of our teams, you are taking away that position for someone else. Please be aware that your commitment is taken seriously, and we expect ALL parties to complete their full season, once accepted. ALL DEPOSITS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE UNDER ALL CIRCUMSTANCES.

1. Complete Team Acceptance form (signed by parent and player) and pay non-refundable deposit ($500-$700 depending on the team). 

2. Complete Online Club Registration (link will be sent via email within 24 hours after acceptance.

3. Attend a uniform try-on in the fall.

4. Register for USAV-Lone Star (Local and Travel) and AAU (Travel Only) memberships. You will be emailed a link. Cost not included in fees. (Available September 1)
